What is the need for laryngoscopy?
The conditions that usually require laryngoscopy are as follows: 1. Hoarseness: Hoarseness caused by any reason requires laryngoscopy to confirm the diagnosis. Because hoarseness indicates some kind of lesion of the vocal cords, and the vocal cords cannot be observed by ordinary examination methods, laryngoscopy can identify vocal cord-related lesions; 2. Pharyngeal foreign body sensation: If the patient is accompanied by dry throat, itchy throat, sore throat, and pharyngeal foreign body sensation, laryngoscopy is required to check the health status of the throat to determine whether there is inflammation and find the cause of inflammation, such as bacterial infection, viral infection, throat reflux, fire, etc. In addition, some patients with early-stage hypopharyngeal cancer and laryngeal cancer may also have pharyngeal foreign body sensation; 3. Other conditions: there may be unclear speech or other uncomfortable symptoms in the pharynx, and some patients may cough with blood in the sputum, etc., all need to go to the hospital for laryngoscopy.
