Impregnated diamond drill bits are designed to be used as grinders. They are made by embedding diamonds in an infiltred or sintered matrix. As the diamonds become worn and rounded due to usage, the matrix erodes at the same rate; thus, new sharp diamonds are uncovered to continue cutting through the rock.
